HOPE. STRIVE. LOVE. LOYALTY...

Filipinos are known to have strong family ties. One’s greatest loyalty belongs to his or her family. Family is what we need in the society. If we start to treat each other like family members, then the society would be living in a harmonious way. If we give our greatest loyalty and hold on to our nation as this father holds on to his fragile child, progress will follow.

The Philippines is filled with diversity and complexity. Ethnically, linguistically and socio-economically. For example, there are a lot of squatters beside Trinoma. The poor are largely unseen. Culture of poverty continues to inculcate our nation. People do everything for the sake of getting money. Poor people make everyone else feel better. Poverty helps guarantee the status of the rich.

We are culturally complex because we are layered by a lot of cultures. Understanding and respecting each other’s differences is a step towards the building blocks of progress.

TOP THREE THINGS WE MUST DO:

Study and learn.

As students, what can we do to make change? We study and learn. We must not focus on the grade and the technical terms we must memorize but on the learning process itself. By the stuff we learn, we must ask ourselves, “How can I use what I have learned in order to help nation?” or “How can I achieve reform and change?”

Have hope

We must have hope and let go of the criticisms that continue to cover our minds. Criticisms about the government won’t do anything good. What we must do is to have hope and trust. Hope that they can do well for the nation and to have trust that they uplift the situations present. The political leaders we choose must possess moral authority over us. Because of them, we must be inspired to change for the better. There must be transformation. Transformation for the good. They must have all the values and vision.

Once in a while, we need MORAL VIGORNESS. Creative effervescence is a way to have moral vigorness. Creative effervescence is having that intense emotion that can’t be pacified. The kind of emotion that can’t be contained. When people have the same emotions, they become united. At present, we badly need to be united. When we put ourselves down too much, all the more we cant rise back. This is because we need to pump our feelings and celebrate as one. High level of optimism is needed not high level of mediocrity.

Strive for excellence.

We have forgotten the concept of greatness. We are no longer enthusiastic or excited. We have become students of a gloomy agency where we only learn the jargons to succeed for our individual pursuits. Culture of shabbiness continue to linger upon us. We become contented and satisfied even though the work is mediocre because our standards have been set low. Is it possible for a great society to live in a way where mediocrity is the new standard? No.

We remain a minimalist even when it comes to serving our nation. We tolerate incompetence in the government, wrongly believing that this is what we deserve. We are underestimating our capabilities to have more. We need to have an inspiration for the nation. Looking beyond ourselves is the best way we can eliminate the bone of selfishness. If we make it as our personal law to always strive for excellence then we could achieve total progress.

Striving for excellence in the service of nation is achieved with the passion for perfection. Hard work is needed.

Yes, we all have different jobs. But no matter how different our jobs are, if we do our jobs using our love for the nation as the inspiration then we will find ourselves more motivated and happy.

We must be hard working in order to be excellent citizens. We must polish ourselves and aim for betterment. If we have these, we can reach that special one goal for the nation. Striving for excellence also means you have to sacrifice some conveniences. Yes we can’t be perfect but we must be flexible to circumstances.

If discipline is instilled in every individual then there will be a creation of a mature society. If we diligently carry our duties to this nation as this man carries his, good reform will follow.

Self- respect leads to discipline. You can only find freedom if you follow laws. And if one follows his or her laws, then he or she works toward perfection. He or she will feel good when the wanted result is achieved.

Every citizen must take politics as a vocation. A calling. A duty that one is willing to take even though sacrifices must be made along the way. When obstacles come, we must not give up because we offer ourselves whole-heartedly. We must go beyond ourselves by possessing heart. There must be personal self-intoxication. In order to make a difference, one must eliminate the thinking that the world revolves around him or her. Everything should start within our hearts. A kind of heart that serves a substantive purpose. There must be a vision for the society that must be fulfilled.

HOPE. STRIVE. LOVE. LOYALTY…

FOR THE NATION.
